A roof inspection is a visual inspection of the roof with a report that details any problems and prescribed repairs/costs. Roofers check for the following during an inspection:
- Condition of roof (shingles, tiles, composition, foam, metal, tar and gravel, etc)
- Ridges and caps
- Flashing at chimneys, vents, pipes, valleys, etc.
- Slipped shingles or tiles
- Damaged to any underlayment
- Problems with wood sheeting or lap
- Number of layers of roofing material
Roof Certification
A certification is essentially a warranty of the roof, after any recommended repairs.
Certifications also estimate the remaining lifespan of the roof.
